Footballers Wives was Shed Productions’ second offering to the world of television, following the hugely successful Bad Girls. Based on idea by Paul Marquees, the show ran for five series and was a ratings success.

The series ran from 2002 to 2006, and was set around a fictional football club, Earls Park FC. An American version of the series, called Football Wives was announced, but the series did not get further than the pilot.

The series was cancelled in 2006 – the same year Bad Girls was axed – but Footballers Wives left an enormous legacy. Condemned by religious authorities, and responsible for a great deal of babies being named “Chardonnay”, the glamour, glitz and raunchy sex scenes firmly left it’s imprint on British Television.

As well as the series, a board game and a book was released.
