A seventh series of 20 episodes was announced on 7 April 2010 after Shed Media announced their final results.[29] However, only 10 episodes were filmed due to the difficulty of shooting during the winter months
A seventh series of twenty episodes was announced by Shed/BBC on the 7th April, 2010, when Shed Media announced their final results. Due to filming constraints, due to the difficulty of filming in winter, only ten episodes were filmed. Although originally planning to keep Series 7 to ten episodes, the BBC announced the series would be extended by twenty episodes, bringing the total count to thirty, and making the seventh series the longest yet.
Another Waterloo Road ended, when Amanda Burton, after only joining the show at the start of the previous series, announced she was quitting the show, due to her finding it difficult to spend such a long time away from her family home in London. The new Byrne dynasty started, though, when Alec Newman joined as damaged “superhead” Michael Byrne.
During Series 7, it was announced Waterloo Road would move to Scotland, and to tie in with the planned move, there would be a “dramatic series finale”.
